GENERAL
flatmanCROOKED publishes books and short-stories, both fiction and non-fiction. We limit short stories to 10,000 words, save rare exceptions. Please read online content or a print anthology before submitting, to ensure your work is appropriate for our house. We do not publish reprints except on rare occasions.
In regards to both the print anthology and online journal, fmC acquires only single publication print or electronic rights respectively. We will make every effort to keep everything we publish electronically available indefinitely in the archives, provided we receive permission from the author.
Work may be submitted by email or post, though we highly encourage email. In the body of the email please include your legal name, pseudonym if applicable, address, phone number and email address. Please include this information with mailed submissions as well. We do not return mailed submissions. You may include a bio if you’d like.
fmC considers all story titles working titles, regularly engages the author in an editorial process, and reserves the right to copy edit.
SHORT STORIES

BOOK-LENGTH
Please include the first 10,000 words of your book in the email. If this is a simultaneous submission, please make note of that in the email. Please send this work to fiction@flatmancrooked.com.

We use this for those authors we are requesting specific items from (contracts, releases, noted manuscripts) but if you'd like to submit work by mail, please make an attempt to notify us, and know that we pick up mail bi-weekly, so the wait may be a bit longer.
RESPONSE TIMES
Response time for work submitted varies wildly. Two months would be long, while a week would be average, a few days not altogether uncommon. We currently (as of April, '08) receive approximately 300 submissions a month. We do not currently pay for online publication. We occasionally pay for print anthology publication. We've published online, only later to consider printing. We do not have a particular formula for placing things in print as opposed to online.
What we lack in funds we make up for in heart.
