MISSION

Plainly, Flatmancrooked Publishing is dedicated to the proliferation of good stories. In its various stages of maturation, this house was many things. The house attracted its initial audience by promising an experimental aesthetic that was at times reckless. But when Kaelan Smith and Elijah Jenkins partnered in early 2008, Flatmancrooked became a more mature idea - still rash, excitable and independent, but founded on quality storytelling.

We are committed to the art of writing sometimes lost when manuscripts are hurried into the crowded circus of profiteering. We will achieve quality by persistence and stubbornness, as opposed to high return by subservience and single-mindedness. Dedicated to well-crafted writing, we are firstly open to a beautiful story able to weave together the reader and the world created. Secondly, we are not above genre, but what we publish will be.

We aim to produce books and publish stories that will be kept, reread, displayed, and handed down. Our readership will come to know that FMC is synonymous with phenomenal writing, beautiful books, and an unwavering standard of excellence. Readers will buy our books because they have confidence in the name on the spine and, thusly, the work between the covers.

FOR CRITICS, MEDIA OUTLETS, and BOOK BUYERS

The following links lead to fmC's Digital Galleys. We've decided to house PDF proofs of all books published by Flatmancrooked for critical and media review, as well as bookstore, library, and university perusal. All PDF files are password protected and displayed in full (excepting those works whose authors or responsible estates explicitly prohibit online archival). To recieve the password for a digital proof, please send an email to editors@flatmancrooked.com, containing the following: Name, Title, Company/Business/Outlet/Institution (if applicable), Phone Number, which publication you'd like to preview, and your reason for the preview request. Pending approval of management, Flatmancrooked will deliver, within two days, the pertinent password for the requested document, either by telephone or by email.

We welcome requests for hardcopies of all publications for critical and media review and will fulfill requests so long as electronic galleys remain available. Flatmancrooked management reserves all discretionary rights for the allocation of electronic access to their publications.

All rights are reserved for the fmC Digital Galleys. Please do not print, save, copy, or otherwise duplicate any portion of the galley. Please do not give access to other unauthorized parties, or disseminate the password. Authors may choose at anytime to have their work removed from a Digital Galley. Digital Galleys will be removed shortly after their respective national print release dates.
