Unfortunately I remember this all to well. I don’t remember how I received the news but I know I was at Matt’s house. As soon as I was off the phone we jumped in Matt’s truck and rushed down to Mercy to see Laura. After about 20 minutes of searching we finally found where they were keeping her. It took me about a full minute to pull back the curtain. I was afraid of what I might see. She looked so helpless, so lifeless, almost like a wax doll. It was so scary because of the thoughts that go through your head, especially when the nurses tell you she just has to take it one day at a time. I am so thankful that Laura came thought that tragedy. It may have been with a different perspective on life, but certainly not in a negative way.

WOW! Listening to that just brought back so many memories – many that have been tucked away for almost ten years! It’s crazy to think that I was that girl in the backseat. So much has happened since then, but I am so thankful that everyone come out of this alive. Laura and Megan are true survivors. They will always hold a special place in my heart because without them, I don’t think I would be the person I am today!
