THE NEW INDUSTRY FORMAT
We’re making some changes in our Industry and High Horse blogs. We’d like this site to function, not just as a venue for great online fiction, but as a comprehensive hub for industry news and criticism. Our blogs will still contain original content, but we’re expanding to a daily model. Starting this week, every day in Industry you can read about the exciting/devastating/confounding developments in 21st Century publishing. In two weeks’ time on High Horse, we’ll choose a book to discuss, and every day we’ll publish an excerpt of a review of that book: five days, five reviews.
We feel that this new format will lend itself better to promoting the discussion, dissection, and synthesis of a new publishing aesthetic. And we want your input. If you find publishing articles that we should be promoting (or attacking, as the case may be), or if you’ve read positive/scathing reviews of new books, send them to James Kaelan.
We think the whole Flatmancrooked corpus—the editors, the writers, the readers—together can solve more problems than the editors alone. So, look out. This is going to get interesting.
