JESSICA LOTT

Jessica graduated with an MFA in Fiction from Boston University in ‘04. She’s had some success in the interim, actually publishing her novella, Osin, which she originally wrote under the tutelage of Ha Jin. Recently, she’s been working on a novel, but keeps finding reasons to stray. Now she does some writing for the old Flatmancrooked, the raddest thing on electrons since NPR launched its site.

My grandmother was from Oklahoma and she used to say, “Elijah, some people are just plain crazy.” According to the National Institute of Mental Health, 26 percent of Americans suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder, but only a fraction of those people—about six percent—are unemployed or considered disabled.
