Christina Soto

Christina Soto is an award winning West New York photographer, filmmaker, and playwright.

She has written, directed and produced several films including Muneca and Perros Sin Amor.  Her film career began when she was hired as a script supervisor for the film, Nueba Yol (released theatrically worldwide in 1995), the highest grossing film ever in the Dominican Republic. She also worked on, In Search Of A Dream (released theatrically in 1997), the first ever Spanish-language S.A.G. film to be shot in the United States. She left her job as a translator at the DA'S office to pursue a career in film. She currently resides in West New York, New Jersey.


Ms. Soto was selected to participate in the 2005 Columbia University playwright's workshop Our Word as well as the Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre Beginner's Playwriting Unit, NY. In 2004, she was selected to participate in the HEXTC 2004 Directors' Lab Series with MUNECA. In 2004, the MUNECA play was also produced by the Bregamos Theater, at the Educational Center for the Arts, in New Haven, Conn. In 2004, she was selected to participate in the Playwright's Unit at the New Jersey City University, where she adapted the screenplay into a theatre play.

She was previously educated in Behavioral Science at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, New York and the Film Video Arts, in New York City. Prior to making films, Christina worked as an Official Interpreter for the Bronx District Attorney's Office, Grand Jury, the basis for several of her screenplays.
